Key Concepts

Report Lifecycle

Every report moves through a clear lifecycle: Draft while the author is writing, Submitted when ready for review, then Approved or Rejected by an auditor. Authors receive feedback at each stage.

Schema Versioning

NERIS releases updated schemas periodically. This module lets you import a new schema version and switch to it without any code changes. Field mappings, value sets, and validation rules all update automatically.

Validation vs. Submission

Validation runs in real time as the report is built. Submission is a separate action. Departments can require a clean validation before submission is allowed, preventing invalid reports from entering the auditor queue.
